A pearl is a hard, roundish object produced within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living shelled mollusk. The largest pearl in the world is called the Pearl of Lao-Tzu or the Pearl of Allah. This large pearl was found in 1934 in a giant Tridacna in the Palawan Sea. The Pearl of Lao-Tzu measures 9 1/2 inches x 5 1/2 inches. The credit of finding out Pearl of Lao-Tzu goes to a Filipino diver. This pearl is estimated worth of $40 million USD and weighs 14 pounds.
